A young widow (Jessie Matthews) can inherit a fortune provided she marries a Canadian man (Ian Hunter) she has never met. Neither of them are keen on the arrangement, so when he travels to England to meet her, she pretends to be the maid to find out what he is like. The plot is light and predictable, but the film is entertaining thanks to the performance from Jessie Matthews. Her cheerful charm and smile are the highlight of the film and the reason she was a Popular British star in the 1930's.
