Alec Guiness is a scientist who invents a new clothing material that does not get dirty or wear out. However the mill owners and mill workers are not happy and try and stop the invention. Meanwhile he falls for the daughter (Joan Greenwood) of the mill owner he starts working for. Entertaining satirical Ealing comedy with a good performance from Alec Guiness.
