A young man goes to sea and has a series of advetures that he comes out of successfully despite of himself rahter than because of his actions. Carol Reed delivers an enteratinig actin film that moves with pace and more boys own action rather than realism of life in the navy during the Napoleonic wars. Margaret Lockwood has a relatively small part early in her career. The production is typicla of quota quickies produced in England at this time.
