A film star, her husband and her rival are at a party when a local woman is murdered, but the police and Miss Marple suspect she was the intended victim. This is a star studded version of the Agatha Cristie book with Angela Lansbury as Miss Marple. This is a competent adaptation, but has the feel of a television version and with stars past their prime. The plot of the novel is reputedly based on evernts from actress Gene Tierney's life.
