A Victorian chorous girl (Peggy Cummins) suspects a man (Victor Mature) is responsible for the murder of her friend, but as she wants to know how the upper class live she blackmails him into taking her to his country estate where his fiance (Patricia Medina) and his mother (Ethel Barrymore) who have different motives towards her. Vincent Price is the police man investigating the death of the woman and is drawn by an unusual rose, the Moss Rose, and a bible to the country estate. The film is based on a novel by Joseph Shearing.
