The story of Burton (Patrick Bergin) and Speke (Iain Glen) searching for the source of the Nile featuring the hardship and their antagonistic friendship. This is a well produced epic that highlights the hardships and dangers of exploring Africa in the 1800's as well as the problems of their relationship both in Africa and back in England. The nature of the narrative means the pacing is uneven.
