Comment/Synopsis

The wife (Doris Day) and 2 daughters of a man (James Garner) are lost at sea and after 5 years she is declared dead and he remarries (Polly Bergen). Things get complicated when she reappears and he has to decide between his two wives with comic consequences. There are good performances from both Doris Day and Jams Garner. Originally the film was written for Marilyn Monroe but but then Doris Day took over the part which is curious given that they wer very differnt characters, but Doris Day dominates the film.
