When the mother of a young woman dies, she leaves some money for her in trust with their pastor to use without her knowing. When the local shop has a fancy hat from New York on display that she takes a fancy to, he buys it for her annonomously. However the locals start spreading gossip about them and eventually he has to reveal the source of the money. Whilst this is not a great plot, there are good performances from Mary Pickford and Lionel Barrymore. This was the last collaboration betwween D W Griffith and Mary Pickford.
