A young woman (Joan Woodbury) sees her father gunned down and after surviving living in an orphanage struggles to get a job due to her father's background. Her boyfriend kills a man in a hit and run incident, and she agrees to take the blame. However she is set up and is sent to prison. She comes out cynical and set on revenge by climbing up in the gangster world. There is a good performance from Joan Woodbury, but the film is let down by a poor and muddled script. It has an early performance from Alan Ladd.
