Comment/Synopsis
This is a British talkie remake of the earlier silent Alfred Hitchcock film The Lodger with Ivor Novello taking the same role in both films. When women are being murdered Elizabeth Arden suspects that her lodger Ivor Novello is the killer. There is a good perky performance from Elizabeth Allan but Ivor Novello is disappointing and this is Jack Hawking's first major film role. Watching this film today is not helped in that existing prints have poor sound quality which does not help the performances. Ivor Novello repeats his role from the better 1927 silent Alfred Hitchcock version The Lodger.
