Comment/Synopsis

A drifter (William Holden) arrives in the small town of his rich college friend and disrupts peoples relationship not least as he starts a relationship with his friends girl friend (Kim Novak). The story revolves around a labor day picnic for the town as the drifter challenges the complacent ideas of people. Kim Novak plays the woman who is fed up of just being the town beauty and Susan Strasberg plays her younger sister having her eyes opened to the mysteries of adult relationships. Rosalind Russell Plays the spinster school teacher realising that she is not longer young. This gives an interesting view into life in small town America in the 1950's.
