Comment
In the 17th century Sweden is in the middle of a war. The queen has to deal with the politicians, the army, the people and then she meets the Spanish ambasador. Complications occur because when they meet he thinks she is a man and does not know she is the queen, also all her subjects consider him the enemy. The plot is not very believable with part of it verging on pantomime as Greta Garbo pretends she is a man and not the queen. If you can cope with the silly plot, there is a good performance from Greta Garbo as a man, a woman and a queen. Although this is a biopic of the queen it is temerped by the fact that Greta Garbo is was a bigger star than the queen.
