An assistant on a magazine (Carly Pope) gets promoted to food critic and has to find a restaurant to write about. Meanwhile her estranged overbearing mother (Christine Baranski) arrives and a local restaurant owner (Bobby Canavale) whose restaurant is threatened with closure tries to persuade her to write about his restaurant. She comes up with a plan that she will write about his restaurant if he will occupy her mother for two weeks. This is a Christmas film with no connection with Christmas and in a large part a showcase for Christine Baranski's singing and dancing talents. Carly Pope's character needed to be stronger as did some of the supporting characters to make this a better film.
