An attractive young woman (Jean Harlow) arrives by boat at a plantation to escape her past and falls for the plantation owner (Clark Gable), but things get complicated when a new employee (Gene Raymond) arrives with his sultry wife (Mary Astor). The film revolves around a classic love triangle with Clark Gable showing off his physique, Jean Harlow being sexy and Mary Astor being sultry. Jean Harlow gives a good performance and is noted for her barrel bath scene and Mary Astor is good being tempted away from her new husband by Clark Gable.
