Night club owner Lady Lou (May West) has all the men wanting her and showering gifts on her, then her former lover escapes from jail looking for her, meanwhile the next door Salvation Army Captain (Cary Grant) tries to resist her charms. This is a film adaptations of the Broadway stage play Diamond Lil that was written by and stared Mae West. This script is full of sexual innuendo and witty one lines which have become synonymous with her. It is the film that made Cary Grant a household name and saved Paramount from bankruptcy. It was very popular with audiences, though did contribute to the introduction of the Hayes Code that put an end to characters like Lady Lou and films like this.
