A thief is robbing Sherlock Holmes and the thief disappears and appears as Holmes tries to capture him. At 1 minute, this is hardly a Sherlock Holmes film as we would understand today, but it is frequently listed as the first film version of Holmes. It is more a trick photography film than story. It was originally made to be shown on a Mutascope rather than a screen.
