The father of a soldier killed during World War 2 is about to build a cricket pavillion in his honour. His wife returns having remarried, but then it turns out he deserted and is still alive. The acting is quite flat, though Sally Gray brings elegance if not passion to the part, but that is probably more to do with the direction.
