Comment/Synopsis

A woman is blackmailed into travelling to France, but the blackmailer is murdered, his body put in a trunk which the French police discover and think her husband is the killer. It is up to Lord Peter Wimsey to help the police to find the real killer. The film has a good plot that is well worked through the film. The problem is that Peter Haddon is not convincing as Lord Peter Wimsey, though there are good performances from John Loder and Mary Newland in what are effectively the two main roles. The other problem is that some of the editing is very abrupt and some scenes feel rushed. The film is based on a story by Dorothy L Sayers.
