An alien (Jeff Bridges) lands on earth and assumes the body of man and then forms a relationship with the man's widow (Karen Allen) as he takes her across the country to meet his ship and escape from the government. This is a mix between science fition and romance,making it a a more gentle film than many of John Carpenter's films.
