The testimony of a reporter sends an innocent man to prison but then afterwards the reporter is then suspected of a murder in the same circumstances. This is a dark, gritty psychological thriller that is regarded as one of the first film noir style of films. It has many of the features that later characterised that style and also has a curious dream sequence.
