Mary Tudor (Glynis Johns), the sister of Henry VIII (James Robertson Justice) , falls in love with the captain of the guard (Richard Todd) and they plan to escape to America to avoid her being forced to marry the king of France. This is Disney doing Henry VIII in a not very convincing way and with plenty of historical inaccuracies. James Robertson Justice plays a comic Henry that is too old for the young man he was at this point in time. Glynis Johns brings charm and elegance as Mary, but Richard Todd is bland as her lover. It has the feel that the director was not quite sure what type of film this was supposed to be.
