A young woman (Ginger Rogers) is invited back to a house where 13 years earlier her father had invited 11 people to dinner when he announced that the 13th person would inherit his fortune. Although he died shortly afterwards the stranger never appeared. When the dead body of a woman looking just like her is found in the house the police and a private investigator (Lyle Talbot) investigate the first of several murders. This is a standard whose the killer for the family money with typically good performances from Ginger Rogers and Lyle Talbot.
