In a future world decimated by war, the only habitable parts of the planet are Great Britian and Australia that are linked by a travel tube that goes through the centre of the earth. An apparently lowly worker (Colin Farrell) goes to a company that can implant memories but it opens up a past that is linked to the ruling government and the terrorist group trying to change the political and economic situation. His life is immessed in two women, kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. This is a remake of the original Total Recall film and lacks the impact and the one liners of the original film. Whilst a number of scenes play homage to the original film, the plot seems to have been sacrificed for the sake of the effects. It replaces style and plot with effects and violence. Despite a good cast this is not an improvement on the original film, which remains the one to watch.
