A wealthy business man (Orson Welles) is found shot dead and the inquest determines that it was suicide, but a reporter (Michael Wilding) thinks otherwise and starts to investigate and things are not what they first seemed especially in relation to the dead man's wife (Margaret Lockwood). The plot is not great, but Orson Welles has a presence despite a small part as the murdered man in flash backs. Margare t Lockwood has little to work with but her charm and elegance come through.
