Comment/Synopsis

Myrna Loy is Becky Sharp in this early sound adaptation of the William Thackery novel. This is not a good adaptation as the move to the 1930's does not really work and the character of the scheming, social climbing Becky Sharp is lost in reducing the novel to a few key scenes. Ths was the first film that Myra Loy was top billed in, but she went on to give better performances in better films.
