In the rural backwood a teenage girl tries to track down her father who has jumped bail in order to save her home and keep her family. He was cooking up meth and the local and even her extended family close ranks to try and stop her finding her father. This is a bleak, dark and grimm story of a harsh life in deprived America. The film is shot with a stark reality giving a gritty realism. Jennifer Lawrence rightly got a Best Actress Oscar nominatin for her performace.
