James Cameron is a successful director and producer and married 5 times including being formerly married to Kathryn Bigelow and Linda Hamilton. He is hugely influencial in his appraoch to film making particularly in his use of special effects and CGI. This begins to be seen in Aliens but with Terminator 2 he used CGI to create a character for the first time. This was helped by a $100 million budget, the largest for a film at that time and his salary was more than the budget for the first Terminator film. He started his film carer making models and effects for Roger Corman. This led to him directing Piranha II: The Spawning.The idea for The Terminator was born in feverish dream nd was the film that started his career. It has the great line I'll be bacm. This had violence and sci-fi with an emotional core. The box office success of this led hi him to directin ALiens, the sequel to Alien which was anoth commerical success. In many ways James Cameron merges sci-fi with a war film. The Abyss was notable for both the special effects and also filmsing much of it underwater. This was followed by Terminator 2, which built on the effects that he used in th Abyss and was a major success critically and at the box office. He worked again with Arnold Schwenegger in a film which is a comic spy thriller. He followe this with perhaps his most well known film and the best film about the Titianic. He pitched this as Romeo and Juliette on the Titanic, but he also made a social and political comment. This was a major impact on film making. He followed this up with Avatar that had all the backgrounds created by Cgi an the actors were created by motion capture. This was even more scuccessful than Titanic. He portrays the the love and hate of technology.
