Career / Biography

Clint Eastwood is a successful actor, noted for his roles in westerns and tough violent cops, though more recently has featured in comedies and dramas. He has also made the successful transition to directing. His career started in the TV show Rawhide before getting his break in films in "spaghetti westerns". Lived with Sondra Locke for a number of years. He stated his acting career in the 1950's ans appeared in several minor and uncredited roles. He was described as stiff and delivered his lines through his teeth which later became his trademark. THis break came when he was cast in 1958 in the television series Rawhide. As a result of this Sergio Leone cast him in a Fistful Of Dollars in 1964 and this started to make his name as an actor in one of the great spaghetti westerns. This was followed up with For A Few Dollars More and The Good The Bad And The Ugly. Theses were not released in the USA until 1967 when he really became recognised in Hollywood. He returned to America for Hang Em High. In where Eagles Dare he acted opposite Richard Burton and it was his most violent film. In a real change of style he appeared in the musical western paint Your Wagon despite neither of two leads being able to sing. This was folled by Kelly's Heroes with ensemble cast. With Dirty Harry he moved into the police drama genre working with Don Siegel and one the classic lines of "Do I feel Lucky". Play Misty For Me was the first film he directed and was different from his previous films as he is more the victim. He returned to westerns with High Plains Drifter and The Outlaw Josey Wales. Every Which Way But Loose was a complete change of genre into comedy with in orang-utang. After more Dirty Harry films he appeared in Unforgiven and a darker and more morally ambiguous film and won him a best director Oscar and a best actor nomination. In contrast Bridges Of Madison County is more drama and a love affair. Space Cowbys was an entertaining peice of sci-fi. It was Million Dollar Baby that won him his second Best director Oscar and a nomination for for best actor.

Quote

But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?
Go ahead, make my day.
