Career / Biography

Faye Dunaway is a successful actress who was very popular in the 1960's (Bonnie and Clyde) and 1970's (Network). She started her acting career in NewYork under Elia Kazan. her first film role was in Hurry Sundown from dircetor Otto Preminger. Her break through role was in the same year as Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde. It was controversial in the way it portrayed sex and violence but also in the acting style. Despite being early in her career, it was one of her best performances and gained her a Best Actress Oscar nomination. This was followed up with The Thomas Crown Afffair. In this she is sophisticated and classy compared to the working class girl in Bonnie and Clyde. She teamed up again with Elia Kazan for The Arrangement. her next few films were not major successes, but her performances gained critical acclaim. She played the icy villian in the period costume drama The Three Musketeers. It was however her performance in Chinatown that brought her back to star status and gained her another Best Actress Oscar nomination. Towering Inferno was a star studded diaster film. As well as a good performance she wears a stunning dress. Three Days Of The Condor was a spy thriller. She then followed this with the very successful Network where she plays the television executive in a performance that won her the Best Actress Oscar. In Mommie Dearest she played Joan Crawford in which she is very convincing as Joan Crawford. In Barfly she played an alcoholic. In Don Juan Demarco she played the wife of Marlon Brando as they refind their earlier love for each other.
