This is an effective version of the story of the two notorious American bank robbers, not least thanks to the performances of Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Their performances are very naturalistic. The film was controversial on its release due to the way it portrayed sex and violence on the screen. It was both a big box office success and very influential. Fay Dunaway restarted the style of beret and pencil skirt.
