A woman's husband disappears on their wedding night she tracks him down to a plantation in the Louisiana swamps where he has been subjected to experiments. There she discovers that he is gradually being turned into an alligator through the experiments. Beverly Garland is good in the lead role as the wife discovering what happened to her husband. Whilst the plot is not very original, it is well done by director Roy Del Ruth in one of his later films. The combination of being filmed in CinemaScope and black and white adds to the visual effects.
