Comment/Synopsis

A bishop (David Niven) is trying to raise funds for a new cathedral but is having to compromise his principles to get money from a rich widow, and so he prays for help. An angel arrives in the shape of Cary Grrant and he brings change in unexpected ways to the bishop, his wife (Loretta Young) and daughter. This is an entertaining post-war feel good Christmas film, with good performances from Cary Grant as an angel and David Niven. It was made a year after the It's A Wonferfull Life and was loosely remade as The Preacher's Wife.
