In an attempt to put a railway through a western town, the governor (Mel Brooks) appoints a black man (Cleavon Little) as sheriff. However when the sheriff and an alcoholic gunslinger (Gene Wilder) get the town on their side to fight back, things do not go as planned. Comic western that sends up westerns and racism as only Mel Brooks could (he directed it as well).
