Four passengers escape from a cargo ship that has the plague on board and after landing on an island have a series of adventures with the local tribes people and also the two men start to fall for the demure teacher (Claudette Colbert) who gradually finds her stronger more attractive self. This is not a typical grand Cecil B DeMile film, and has a fairly weak plot. Claudette Colbert is fine as the teacher discovering herself but it is Mary Boland who steals all the scenes she is in with her comic turns as the woman teaching the locals.
