Comment
Rupert Everett and Colin Firth are the two gentlemen who are attracted to Reese Withspoon and Frances O'Connor. This is a well made and well cast version of the Oscar Wilde play. Judi Dench uses all her skill to deliver the "a handbag" line and this sets the high standard of this version.Although this play was first performed in 1895, this version still conveys the humour and the satire of the original play and has links back to the 1952 version.

Quote

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever.
All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.
The truth is rarely pure and never simple.
To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.
A handbag.
My first impressions of people are never wrong.
