A spoiled woman (Bette Davis) elopes with her sister's (Olivia de Haviland) husband just before her marriage and then the sister starts a relationship with the jilted fiance. Bette Davis drives her husband to suicide and then returns home and has designs on her original fiance. Bette Davis gives a good performance as a scheming, unpleasant, spoiled woman who manipulates everyone around her. Olivia de Haviland is also good as the pleasant sister and was having an affair with director John Huston during the filming.
The music was by Max Steiner.
