A professor (John Barrymore) invents a machine that can turn things invisible. When he wants to try it on a person, he puts an advertisment in the paper for a volunteer. A model (Virginia Bruce) volunteers so she can get her own back on her boss. Things get complicated when a group of crooks (Oscar Homolka) steal the machine. This film is much more comedy than sci-fi, with Virgnia Bruce having fun as the model who turns invisible, and some nice support from Charles Ruggles and Margarte Hamilton as the put upon servants and Oscar Homolka as the leader of the gang. By modern standards the effects are basic, but they are effective for this film made in 1940.
