John Barrymore (born John Sidney Blyth) started his career on the London stage before moviing to America and moving to working on films. He appeared iin both silent films and talking films. His personal life was not as successful as his film career as he had four marriages and suffered from alcohol problems, however he remains one of the great actors in the inter-war years in films with one of his best performances as the silent Jekyll/Hyde. His brother was Lionel Barrymore, he was married to Dolores Costello and his granddaughter is Drew Barrymore.
