A woman (Lucille Ball) who works as a dance hostess is recruited by the police when her friend disappears, suspected murdered by a serial killer. The police use her as bait by anserwing adverts in the paper and along the way meets a charming rich man (George Sanders) who sweeps her off her feet. This is a good murder mystery that has good performances from Lucille Ball and George Sanders and a suitably creepy performance from Cedric Hardwicke. As an American film from the 1940's set in London it does have a few anomalies, but that does not detract from a well made film.
