A woman (Kay Francis) is effectively sold to the owner (Warner Oland) of a nightclub as part of a gun running deal by her boyfriend (Ricardo Cortez)and she ends up being the chief hostess. After a while she escape on the steam boat to Mandalay where she meets and falls for a drunken doctor (Lyle Talbot) trying to make amends for his mistakes and the boyfriend and night club owner are also after her. The plot develops well as Kay Francis goes through a range of emotions as she deals with a range of unpleasant men. The film revolves around and is made by the performance of Kay Francis with good support from Lyle Talbot trying to make amends for his mistakes in life and Ricardo Cortez as the double crossing lover.
