A young jockey down on his luck arrives in a small English village where he meets up with family. The youngest daughter wins a horse in a lottery and has a dream of winning the Grand National. This is a classic family film of horses, teenagers and home spun philosophy. This was Elizabeth Taylor's first major role and her performance carries the film.
