Mickey Rooney had a long career on television, film and in the theatre starting as a child on the stage before moving into silent films in the 1920's. He was a major star whilst in his teens and success continued through until the 1960's. He continued to work until his death but in lesser roles. He had a short marriage to Ava Gardner, the first of eight marriages.
