Comment/Synopsis

A reporter (Fredric March) in need of a story visits a woman (Carole Lombard) in a small town who is supposed to be dying of radioactive poisoning. He takes her to New York where she becomes a media star, but she knows that actually it was a misdiagnosis, and she is actually well. This is a great satire on the power of the media that has lost none of its power after 80 years. There is a wonderful performance from Carole Lombard as the woman coming to terms with unearned fame. This is a good examples of the screwball comedy sub-genre of films.
