When their father dies the Dashwood girls have to build a new life dependent on their relatives and looking for suitable men to marry. Director Ang Lee has produced a well made version of the Jane Austen novel that benefits from a strong cast. There are very good performances from Emma Thompson who was Oscar nominated, and Kate Winslet and over the top from Elizabeth Spriggs.
