Comment/Synopsis
A woman (Janet Gaynor) leaves her home town to go to Hollywood to become an actress. Once there she meets a star (Fredric March) and marries after a short romance but he struggles to come to terms with the decline in his career as her career goes up to fame and oscars. The best performance is from Fredric March as the actor trying to come to terms with his life, his career and his drinking, plus there is good support from Janet Gaynor on her way up to stardom. The film was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and again in 1976 but this is the better version of the story.
