Christopher Nolanis a British director whose father worked in the industry. He has directed some of the biggest commercially successful films of the 2000s including the Batman / Dark Knight series of films. His first feature film was Following made on a very small budget, though his first major film was Memento two years later that brought him critical and commercial success. With Insomnia he directed a big budget film with big stars and manages to get performances from Al Pacino and Robin Williams in a thriller. From this Warner Brothers got him to restart their Batman franchise with Batman Begins and is about the development of Bruce Wayne into Batman. This was followed by The Prestige a complex drama of magicians. He followed this with The Dark Knight which included The Joker and was the film that made him a major director. Inception was differnt in being more a complex art house thriller that plays with dreams and other ideas. Interstella was a very different Sci-Fi film and then this wsa followed by the war film Dunkirk. Tenet is another complex plot involving time travel. He has worked with his wife Emma Thomas who has been involved in the production of many of his films.
