Robert Shaw is known for his role in A Man For All Seasons and Jaws. After leaving school he decided he wanted to be an actor, studied at RADA and then worked at Stratford and The Old Vic. His first film role was a very small on-speaking part in The Lavender Hill Mob. He continued to work on the stage and then featured in the television series The Buccaneers. His role in From Russia With Love set him up as a star on the rise and as a villan. In the The Luck of Ginger Coffey he worked with his second wife Mary Ure. In 1965 he starred in the war film The Battle Of The Bulge. His Oscar nomination came for his role in a Man For All Seasons and his portrayal of Henry VIII was one of the high points of his career. In the Sting he plays the patsy to the stng and the one who sets the stakes to the sting. He played another iconic villian in the 1974 film The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three. In 1975 he starred in Jaws which was his most well known role. By the late 1970's he was broke and made films to make money to keep his 10 children from his three marriages.
