Johnny Weissmuller came from German partents who emigrated to America when he was very young. In the 1924 and 1928 Olympics he won 5 gold medals and in his swimming career he set 67 world records. HIs film career ran from the 1930's to the 1950's. During this time he appeared as Tarzan and Jungle Jim. He is still best remembered for his Tarzan films, the first 6 for MGM (with Maureen O'Sullivan) and the other 6 for RKO, and his famous yodelling yell that became the trade mark of his films.
