Comment
At the height of the French Revolution the elusive Scarlet Pimpernel rescues French aristocrats from the guillotine. However the French wife of the man who is the Scarlet Pimpernel does not know who his alter ego is and when her brother is arrested his position is put at risk. This is a good period drama with some good sets and costumes. It has a good performance from Leslie Howard as he plays both the various Pimpernel disguises and the fop Sir Blakeney and he is well supported by Merle Oberon as his wife being manipulated by the French.
