Solomon (Yul Brynner) becomes king after the death of his father David and builds up the power of his country. He gets involved in international politics with Egypt and Sheba and is visited by the Queen of Sheba (Gina Lollobrigida) who plans to undermine him for her own ends. Although visually impressive in places, the acting is not great, but Gina Lollobrigida bring elegance and beauty to the role of Queen of Sheba in what was her most memorable performances. The is notable as half of the film was made with Tyrone Power in the lead role, but he collpased and died on set and was replaced by Yul Brynner and all his scenes had to be re-shot.
